does the PTO just have a seal around the shaft or is there also a large O ring behind the plate. It's leaking and I need to get what I need to fix it. Thanks for any insight.

An oil seal is used to seal around the shaft. The entire PTO unit uses a very large o-ring to seal it against the rear end housing.

There is a 3 bolt about 4" plate that the seal goes in that has a gasket behind it.
