I recently bid on a rear wheel weight for $25, went to go pick it up and the parts dealer had 3 more. I picked up 4 in total for $25 each. I walked around the 2 Farmall H's he was parting out and saw a pto delete plate which I hadn't seen before, and also noticed one had a cast iron shift knob. It is stamped with 9637D but I can't make out an old IHC logo. I understand at some point during the war when rubber was in short supply they made cast iron instead. From a Google search, I have seen 1944's, 1945's, and 1946's with cast iron. I imagine not all came with them. It appears the knob is threaded onto the shift lever, I can't un-thread it by hand, I'll try some WD-40 and a wrench. I'm wondering if the rubber replacements are threaded or pressed on. If I did get the cast knob off, would I even be able to put it on my current shift lever?
