Farmall 140 gas cap Question

I have a Farmall 140 just bought few months ago and it's about half full of gas and just sitting in my shop I can see a little gas leaking out the cap and it is not even running. Is there any kinda of gasket you can put in Cap. I tried to look back to see if I could find where this had been mention before, and could not find, any help PLEASE..........Thanks Mark

Doesent your cap have one now. Tractor sitting in garage not moving and gas is leaking out the cap sounds funny.

Well, you can get a new tall-version free of charge at something like IHgascap.com, or some such. Search around, it's there.

The gas isn't leaking. It's evaporating and condensing.

Is the gas on the tank itself or around the vent holes in the cap? If the vent holes, then no gasket will solve your problem.

Your gas tank MUST be vented, or pressure will build up. This is a dangerous situation, because a lot of gas vapor is building up inside the tank, which all comes out in one big cloud when you open it. Add a little spark, and kiss your eyebrows goodbye, if you're lucky.

On a 140, it is the gas cap itself that provides the venting.
