wheel weight bolts

Has anyone found the square head bolts that were used on the wheel weights? I would like to get some if you can lead me in the right direction. I know you can use hex head but the square head are just a lot easier.

thanks Zach

you can use all thread and spot weld a square nut on one end. Probably a 5/8" or 3/4". Square nuts available at most hardware stores.

Unless you are wanting to keep the "correct police" happy, just use hex head bolts and nuts.

Zach,
They are not inexpensive anywhere. I just purchased a set from a fella in Ohio. Here is the item number for current listing.
eBay item number:271773438415

They are good quality hardware with the original look square heads and square nuts.

Went over to my local IH dealer years ago the weekend after I hauled Dad's '51 M to it's new home....namely, My Shop! I needed a few small things, wire harness from the light switch box to the headlights, temp gauge, fuse holder cap for the light switch box. Also was interested in two pair of wheel weights, they always had a large assortment of weights on the south end of their shop. And that day they had three pair. When I got my box of parts but before I wrote the check I asked about how much for the weights. At $60/pair I took all three pair. Heck, I'd have taken TEN PAIR if they had them! I asked about the hardware. They told me to see so-and-so out in the shop. For $5 I got to pick out all the hardware needed to mount all three pair on the M from five 5 gal buckets plumb full of wheel weight hardware. The 3/4 inch bolts needed to mount weights are NEVER cheap, but I think I got a heck of a good deal!

$60 for a pair of full circle weights is a very FAIR price. I would be more than willing to pay that amount. Salvage yards around here want $100 per pair and won't budge on that price. They sell very few, maybe none.

Get Grade 8 bolts and square nuts. Put the square nuts where you want to put the heads of the square-head bolts -- reversed.
