Broke my first shear pin. I noticed the u-joint knuckle joints are of a type I've never seen. The u-joints look like common ones but I see no way of replacing the u-joints without cutting the welds to get the yokes apart.
Were these the cheep type of knuckle joints back then and you replaced the whole knuckle joint and not just the u-joint?

Cant see for sure, Is that for the steering on the the motor patrol ? Buy a good one !! When u cut that off with the torch, u wont cut threw the shaft very little if any, the old weld will take more time !!
