Farmall Gas Cap Problems solved.....

Farmall gas caps have been notoriously bad, leak, fall off, don't fit or get damaged easily. I have also heard over a hundred stories of Farmalls running out of gas because no gas gauge. I have found a great replacement with gas GAUGE by accident. It fits my H model but will fit all the same Farmalls with similar tank. It is an early 80's old Polaris snowmobile gas cap and fits perfectly tight with accurate gas gauge. I cross referenced it and KELTCH makes them brand new 12.5in Bayonet type cap part # 7J201153. You can find them on ebay too. Hope this helps all the Farmall owners who have ever ran out of gas....... :D

Is that the gage cap with the cork float? If so be aware that the float WILL come apart and all those pieces of cork floating in the tank WILL cause problems. BTDT Best I can tell you is that gauge/cap on a nail in the shop as an antique, install the upgraded safety cap from IH, and if you are worried about running out of gas carry a 5 gal. can. Armand

Leaks??If you have a good rubber gasket on the cap
and the filler neck is straight you wont have any
leaks. At least I dont...But I have the new 'free'
caps on all my tractors. Threw away the old "leaky"
ones.As far as running out, open the cap and check
once in a while.Running out of gas on the old
'nongauged) tractors is operator error, not the
tractor's fault.

I started out in 1957 drivin H's on a mowing machine or a hay rake. Being 9 years old I could take the cap off and look down into the tank and see if it needed gas. The new style IHC cap is an improvement.

Fine if you want a gauge. I have driven those tractors off and on for 65 years, so I know when they need gas. I have the newer tall IH caps, they don't leak.

I Also don't need a gauge. But give the poster a break, he's just trying to be helpful. Looks like they are vented and the float is probably new enough material that it doesn't fall apart.

That would be slick. It sure would beat the half way clean stick dipping method.

I have been there walking half mile back home cause I though "oh I should have enough"

Thanks

I never worried about running out to much. I either filled it if I was going to be gone long or just use a wire that is long enough to not drop in. Old wheel rake teeth work good for that. I never liked the old stick method. To much gas soaks into the stick. The smaller the rod the less waste. Yup a cheap guy.

I believe Keltch makes then in several lengths. If you have something other than an H, check the depth of your tank and you may find a one that is a better fit.

Are you sure you crossed it correct, I ordered the
number you gave and the cap is too small to fit my
Super M-TA and all old Farmall's use the same cap
