Timing a f12

I have been working on my engine and i completly sisassembled it, put new sleeves, pistons, and other parts into it. I have it mostly put back together, but i have no idea how to time the new mag i just got. Any information would be great.

Put the head and rocker arms on but leave the plugs out and the pan and mag off.

Watch the rocker arms on cylinder #1 while turning the crank slowly. When both values are closed, turn the crank until #1 is at TDC (top, dead, center)- you can double check by looking at the crank.

Turn the mag until the distributor is at 11 o'clock and mount it. That should be close enough to start it. You can then adjust the mag for better timing if need be.
