Farmall H engine oil

I have a farmall H I run sae 30 oil in it . is there a better oil to use or should i just stay with the oil that was used when it was new. The tractor has a recent over haul. Thanks

I think most everyone here runs 15W-40 rotella or delvac in them, but you are fine with the oil you are running.

I run 20W-50 in almost every thing I own. I use O'Reilly's brand oil since it is in fact Valvoline oil. A lot depends on where you are and if you use it year round. If your where it is real cold go with say a 10W-40 etc

Changing oil is important the brand is personal preference , I use rotella 15w40 , but didn't say it is the best just what I like.

I have been using 15W-40 diesel oil in my H for a while and it works for me. By the time it is down a quart it is time for an oil change (~100 hours or so). Straight 30 would be a little hard to get pumping at 0F or below.

Multi-grade wasn't around in the days when that H was new. A good brand of 15-40 or 10-40 has to be a better oil to use.

I use rotella 15w-40 in mine and my grand dad uses that is his super m. We have fairly mild winters compared to the rest of the country. 10 degrees at the coldest occesionaly below that. I get instant oil pressure and holds it good even when hot.

I run 10w30 CI rated oil with about a 20% mix of lucas additive. If you want to go by spec, straight 40 in summer, straight 10 in winter.

20W 50 here in Missouri is not bad since in the summer it is common to have 100 plus degree days and very few days down lower then say 20 or so

I run 15/40 fleet diesel from NAPA.All my tractors/trucks/combines/mororcycles use it.Never had a problem.I run one oil in all my engines because it is simpler that way.No chance of putting the 'wrong' oil in something.

To keep the oil pressure up I run 20W-50 too, Valvoline. Mightnot need to, but hot weather here in Mo., my oil pressure drops too much.

Ya that is also why I asked where he is so that you adjust to where you are and run say a 10W-40 or maybe even a 5W something
