What tractor to buy??

Out of boredom I drove by the local junker's place and sure enough he has some Farmall's for sale.
First that he mentioned was a 'M' which he says is a good runner, straight tin and good back tires but needs front tires for $1000.00. I never seen it since it gets dark so early. Out of all this would be most useful for what I do.

For yard Art he had a F-20 with good back tires and an old F-10 Farm Hand loader (the big one-cylinders on outside tires)that he said did run when they tried it for $1500.00.

Then there is a "Regular" with steel lug back wheels and bent up rims on front/no tires that turns over, may run, but kind of a long shot on that since it does not looks like it has for a while and he wants $800.00 for that. Mostly complete though. I kind of was interested in that because we had one as a kid and would like to relive the past a little.

I'm kind of thinking about the "M" and/or the "Regular" since don't need the Loader tractor. What do people think of those tractors & Prices? Cleddy

Tell him to make you a "package" deal for all three! lol I would lean toward the M.The F-20 would be a (very) close 2nd. Coin toss.

From my somewhat limited experience, even though it might cost a bit more to start with, the better tractor you start with, the less it will end up costing you when all is said and done.

I was thinking of that. Maybe what I think the 'M" is worth plus scrap price for the old one. Scrap prices are down now and it is all scrap for a junker. The only thing that excites them more than junk is some "Green Stuff' they would like in thier pocket.

There always seems to be a lot of old tractors in a junk yard mostly destined for the re-melt place. You would think someone would at least save the good parts off them.cleddy

What do you intend to use them for? That will help determine which tractor best suits your purpose. I grew up on Hs & Ms.

If I get an 'M' have an old #30 manure loader to fix up and put on it and for general light duty work around the building site. We have a "C"& H that we want to treat with kid gloves so they don't get bent up.
Any Real old tractor would just be to look at and tinker with. No desire to work with them after using newer stuff. I grew up with WD Allis tractors and have them in posession so no challenge there, cleddy
