TA troubles

I have an MTA that has the sprag clutch TA. Last fall I was using the tractor when it was like the ta locked in both high and low. With the tractor in neutral and I let out the clutch on high side it would kill the tractor. In low side the ta would slip. First thing I checked was the adjustment and it all seemed to be right. It had always worked up til then. Did something happen to the ta or in the transmission?

More than likely Both are in need. The trans is probably in two gears at once. Pretty easy to fix by removing the shifter lever, and moving the slots back into the neutral center position. Yje TA probably needs that sprag clutch. Jim

When it went out I did pull it home in neutral. So I don't think it is stuck in two gears. I will double check that though. I am getting ready to take it apart and didn't want to take any more apart than I had to. Thanks for your advice and answers.

Just a guess here, sprag rolled over and now works in opposite direction as if installed backwards. Can check by pulling small cover over ta, pull ta lever back, block clutch down and carrier is supposed to rotate in direction of engine rotation. If it goes opposite way, sprag has turned over. Never seen this in one of those TA's but a sprag would turn over in the hydraulic TA's and then get torn up and not work at all in TA.
