There has been one on CL pgh. Pa for about 2 mths now. They can't get $500 for it.

What you do not understand a joke when you read one???? Key word BARGAIN as in not

At best it is a tractor that is scrap price which is around $300 or so if that much

This is always an interesting topic of discussion. There is a value to something as it sits, assembled. often, it is scrap value unless the tractor is something relatively rare (an F12 is not). however, there is a value to the parts it contains, which is usually higher for the parts value. What is not often considered is the labor to take it from a an assembled tractor to the sellable parts.

So, depending upon what your plan is, and what you need, the price then follows. so, the real answer here is what do you want to do with it. Personally , in this case, I might offer $300-$400 for it FOR PARTS. That offer could be effected by how far I have to drive (both ways) to get it.

with all that said, in this case, I agree. $1500 is a joke. $500 for the one in Pa is getting a bit closer to reality. The one in Pa BTW is an F14. mag, carb rims, governer, and a couple other items may make the $500 closer to ok.

as always, IMHO.

While we are on the topic of Craigslist tractors. Is a F-14 in PA that ran many years ago, barn kept, nice paint but needs new tires and a rim piece priced too high at $900? I know the green market better than I know the red one. I'd post pictures but my account wont let me.

is that the model built without a seat or steering wheel? You know... for the farmer that has lost his butt and doesn't know which way to turn? Now THAT'S funny!

Not worth $900 as I see it. I can buy several running F12/F14's that don't need rims, here in Pa for $800 to $1000. Very limited market for resale.

crazy, isn't it? I was at an auction in southern Minnesota 2 years ago that had beautifully restored F12's and F-14's selling for $900 to $1100 apiece. Some on steel, some on rubber (NEW rubber). All runners, all in parade condition. Yet a non running JD model L brought $2500. I just don't get it.

That's what I was afraid of when I bought it, but the situation was ideal. I may have over paid by a little but I hope to make that back in experience and fun over the next few years.

I have a lead on some matching rear spoke rims so we'll see where it goes. Hope to save this sickle bar mower as well. I'm sure I'll put more into it than its worth.

Either way, I grew up on a Farmall M and a IHC 1066 so until I find an affordable green one (cough cough), I will enjoy learning on this one.
