twice now ive cut my phone to the house with my sc and disk. twice ive asked the phone company to come and move my line out of the garden

all i get is that the line is below the hard pan.. if that is the case then why does it get cut with the disk

they just dont listen

My dad had the same problem so when they came in to fix it he had dug a 6 foot deep trench and told them put the line in it. Been that way now for decades

Get out the plow, get in there, and hook the line. Pull it outta the ground clear from the road to the house. Then they'll have to come and re-bury it.

When the crew comes, bring them donuts or lunch or cold/hot drinks, and ask nicely if they'd dig down a couple feet when they put the line back in.

Years ago, my uncle called and asked them to move one of their gray boxes so he could take the hill down and build a house. They kept telling him to call them if he hit the line while he was moving dirt. He tried to explain that he was defiantly gonna hit the line, but they kept telling him to call them if he hit the line. He finally told the lady "Ok, if I can find a phone that still works, I will."

The phone company installed my line without asking where I wanted it at the new house. We dug it up with the dozer when we built the shed, after five years and at least ten repairs(they just patched it and ran it across the yard). I got the repair crew down the road last summer, you should have seen the look on their faces when I told them told them the line had been above ground for better than 5 years and I was getting tired of hitting it with the lawn mower(I swear if I got within ten feet, it just sucked it in the deck) I showed them where it would be safe and the next day they had it in. We have a coop phone company and the guys do a good job tyhey just kept puttin my job off.

I've had phones in several, different locations in the US. It's been my experience that the phone company always sub-contracted the placement of the line in the yard. Some of the work I've witnessed the sub didn't have the line deeper than 4". I've cut them with just a shovel or hoe doing yard work.

We stopped the phone company from installing buried cables on the property. They did not like it but stopped when a State Trooper and Lawyer showed up.
Trespass.

Working for a Telecommunications Consulting and Engineering company, We find that 90% of the time, the sub contractor for putting in drops will skim by and not put it at the minimum depth of 18" unless you are watching them constantly. There are cases where they cannot get the depth, but that usually is because of rocky terrain like in the mountains.
