Yes but so far it is a free country and the owner can do what ever he wants to with it. Maybe someday our politicians will make that decision for us too. Be careful what you wish for.

I second that, don't let the gov't step in.
Some of those tractors and cars have family ties
that people wouldn't part with no matter how much
money you offer them.

I have people wanting to buy my stuff and the amount I am offered, I am insulted and would rather let it rot. And those people doing the offering already know how they would take my item and make a buck off of it. No Sale!! My friend was at a junk yard and told me this true story. A guy agreed to the price of a windshield and the yard removed it. The guy then tried to get them to lower the agreed upon price. The owner of the junk yard threw the windshield onto the concrete floor breaking it then told the guy that he could have it for free.

What's wrong with wanting to make a buck? That's what we all want. The name of the game is buy low, sell high.

Too many of you guys have this farmer mentality where you think everyone else operates at a loss most of the time, just like you do. That's not how it works in the real world. The picker/tractor jockey/antique dealer/scrapper has to buy at about 50% of what he thinks he can sell it for if he wants to cover expenses and make any money at all.

If you don't want to part with your junk then don't part with it. Save yourself the effort of getting your shorts all wadded up and taking it as a personal insult: Just politely tell the enterprising individuals that you are not interested in selling at this time, but they are more than welcome to come buy any or all of it when your widow has the estate auction.
