2 point plow

bought a2pt plow today. Mulboards aren't very good. How do I tell what model of plow I have and does anybody know where you can get mull Boards? Fits c with small points, has large trip spring. I also have a belly mounted plow for a c. Would they by chance fit?

The way you describe it that sounds like a C-20 plow with the large spring. The spring sits horizontal about the height of the beams. Check with Mike Duffield for parts at (717)552-1951.

A picture would help, most of those old C-20 plows had Plow Chief parts, but I have seen a few that had blacksmith style early IH parts.

I guess you order which ever you wanted

WESinIL has provided you a great resource. Mike is in Williamsport, MD and has a huge collection of IH parts. Everything he sell is top quality(no junk). I use to live 30 miles from him and have visited his place many times while working on my Super A and implements. I recently move 200+ miles from Maryland but have planned a trip back in the spring to take my R & L hand plows to get the parts I need to rebuild them.

First attempt to load pictures. Hope it works. Thanks for your help

Those are Plow Chief bottoms, and they look to be the style with no shin.

You're probably looking at somewhere around $400-$500 or even more per bottom to replace the wear parts with new if everything is shot.

As was guessed earlier, that is in fact , a C-20 fast hitch plow. Those are plow chief bottoms and I`d venture a guess probably 14" bottoms. On the back of the moldboard, take a wire brush and clean it up and look for a part number. That will help tell whether it is 12,14 or 16" bottom. 515708R11 is a 12" moldboard, 515710R11 is 14" (most common, I`ve found) and 515712R11 is a 16"(never seen 16" on a C -20, but possible).
As for your other question concerning the belly mount plow from a C, you certainly can unbolt the whole bottoms from the belly mount plow and it will bolt right up to your fast hitch plow. Again, you have to know the width of bottoms on the belly plow and if it`s a different width than those currently on the fast hitch plow, you will have to either narrow or widen the fast hitch plow frame with the series of holes across the front and back of plow to accomodate the different width. It is pretty obvious when you look at it, what has to be done.

That was, at one time, a C20 plow but the wear parts are in poor condition. It's not much more than scrap metal now. It will cost way too much to replace those parts, and they will be difficult to find.

All IH plows have the same bolt mounting pattern for the bottoms, so you can transplant bottoms off of another plow to this frame, even if it is a newer plow or a different type of plow (i.e. 3pt hitch, semi mounted, or trailer plow).

Your best bet is to find another plow with better bottoms, and transfer them to this frame.

It is not necessary to have exact right width bottoms. You can run a 16" bottom on a 14" spacing, or a 14" bottom on a 12" spacing. The width of the share will only matter on the first pass. Otherwise, the spacing of the bottoms and where you drive are what control the width of cut, not the width of the share.
