it was about 1967 I was 10 yrs. old and saw this big yellow tractor sitting in the neighbour's shed. he passed away short time later. estate asked dad if he wanted to buy the m.m. he said it burnt too much gas, so passed on it. I was kinda disappointed he didn't but it. as it turned out our close nieghbour bought it. he farmed with it a bit and it sat around his farm mostly. then he sold his farm and the tractor went with it. the new owner used the m.m. a bit for farming also. every so often I would enquire about the tractor. I left my ph. # with the owners mother and said call me when ready to sell it. but in the meantime she phoned my uncle instead of me and asked him if he wanted to buy the m.m. he said no I don't need it. my uncle just told me this this Christmas. so because of the ph. no. mixup yet another nieghbour bought the tractor. the tractor had been sitting in the same spot for I would say over twenty years. so this nieghbour got it going and drove it home. he had it for about the last 5 years and I found out he was moving so was going to sell it. well I didn't waste any time going to get it. it started right up and I drove it home 2 miles to my place. the poor tractor sat out in the weather almost all of its life since the estate sale and the last 5 years it was under shed. I have it under shed also. I has lots of rust on the tin now from neglect and still makes me think of that big yellow new looking tractor I used to see parked in the shed of original owner. this time period has covered about 48 years. I will leave it exactly as is , was thinking to clear coat the pantina.i have a rust yellow!

Interesting but you may have intended to post this on the MM board or main tractor board here.

Yea but he could put M rods in it with some work and he could use J D valves in it and Cummins sleeves and four pistons out of and air craft engine If he wanted to . So i guess he could use the MM board the Farmall board and Turbo diesel board and the John Deere board also.

rusted, Thanks for the Story! That's is Exactly what I Like to hear this tractor is where is should be, under the care of someone who will care for it as it should have been, it just took longer than it shoulda!
Still begs the question, Why will a Parent or Uncle in most cases!, makes a judgement on whether or not "You Need or Want" an item instead of getting You in contact with the Owner and let You and Them make a trade or Not!
I agree with you Do not paint it. I tend to lean to not even clear coat it! It is Only Original Once! if the clear coat goes south for any reason you will lose what you have, Keeping it Barn-ed, out of sun light will help prevent any more Oxidation of paint and the peeling there of
Thanks for sharing!

It is a workhorse that just won't give up. You're right, leave it just as it is.

I spent a wee bit of time on a red-nosed Minne when I was barely big enough to sit in the seat and still reach the steering wheel. Someday, maybe I will have one.

You should take it to a few antique tractor pulls. You'd be surprised at how many first place trophies you'd bring home.

Thanks for a great story. Just puts a "lump in the throat" to read it. You are very fortunate to have it.

Neat story and a neat looking tractor. I have found out I like seeing more nice originals than some that are all painted up.
