wr-9 clutch

IIRC early 9 series clutches can be removed from the top by removing the installed equipment and supports from the cover, and going in from there, No split needed.
Later tractors in the series were removed from the bottom. Splitting is needed for flywheel removal. Jim

To add to that, splitting is not even a possibility. Be careful. It is a finger pincher and comes out like a jigsaw puzzle.

Here is a link to my WD-9 library. You can click through there and you might just learn something. lol (I doubt it)

Apparently I was in a hurry when I took the clutch apart. I don't have any decent pictures. Here is an after, but it won't help much.

I have changed the clutch in my 1952 WD-9 through the top--no splitting required. The shop manual I have said that was the way to do it so I gave it a try. I stripped the tractor down to expose the bell housing. It has been several years since I did it but I do recall saying many times "there is no way to get this thing out, whoever wrote that manual must have been........." and low and behold once I got it at the right angle it came out through the top like the manual said. So, yes it can be done on the newer 9 series tractors as well.

you either have to make faces like mr. bean, or jim cary or you can just pull the engine.

Here is the procedure from the IT manual

(quoted from post at 11:39:17 01/24/15) sflem, did you ever finish that thing?

Heck no, I broke my collarbone last winter and did next to nothing. Then summer came and went...
WOpp sold me all the chassis parts I need to finish. I just need to bite the bullet and buy the bearings to rebuild the engine now.
