Hi guys. I'm rebuilding the carb on my H tractor and need the lead?graphite? looking material that goes around the needle. Where do you get this from? What's the best way to put it in correctly? Thank you so much. Matt

That comes in the kits I buy. So did you buy a kit or trying to rebuild with out a kit?? O'Reilly's auto parts sells walker brand kits which are around $20 and has that in them

Good Hardware stores have graphite packing string. Teflon packing "rope" will also work. Google Graphite stem packing string Jim

At $1.26 Mcdonold Carb and Ignition is one of the cheaper places to buy just the packing. If close to a dealer and they stock it that may be less than shipping.

The best way to put it in correctly----, first make absolutely for sure that ALL of the old packing is removed. Use an ice pick, sharpened screwdriver, etc. and dig it out. It will come out in pieces.

Thread the needle into the packing nut, than use a dab of spray lube on that needle, and very carefully slide the new packing onto the needle.

Just as a heads up, I've encountered a couple of H carburetors where the hole was not deep enough to accomodate the full packing. Hopefully, you will not have that experience.
