engine rebuild/break in oil change.

Most new manufacturers vary between 50 to 100 hours. Now for a restored tractor that is going to be a show piece that may take years to built that many hours, this is what I would do. Once you have it running and everything seems good, put the engine under a moderated load with the PTO of pulley if you have something to run. Or taking it out for light plowing. Idling isn't good for a fresh engine. I'd work it a weekend and call it good. I'd like to see what others think.

Call me crazy, but every new engine I do gets worked and the oil changed at five hours, then fifty hours, then regular schedule. Oil is cheap. Having floaters in it from the rebuild is not.

i do the same 5 hours and then 50 hours,i am rebuilding a 584 right now. and any tractors that is used farming gets it oil changed every year.
