460 clutch questions

Looking for some help/clarification. I am completely restoring and overhauling my Farmall 460 gas (w/TA). The previous owner replaced the clutch, but must not have replaced the throwout bearing because it seems pretty sloppy. My question is this, the parts manual shows 2 part numbers for the throwout bearing saying they are each optional. The first number is 59879D the next is 365865R91. Can anyone out there explain the difference to me between the two? Also, where can you find a 365865R91 and not pay an arm and a leg at the dealership?

IH almost always had two different suppliers of a lot of their (can't think of the word I want but it means parts the y don't make themselves), therefore protecting themselves from shut down or going out of production by one suppliers. So, both bearing are essentially the same. If you are completely restoring that tractor, you will have many, many parts that are expensive. Wait until you tear into the transmission and final drive and start looking for gears and bearings.

Call or take your old bearing into a local bearing
supply house. Usually they have or can get anything
you would ever want. Last thrust bearings I needed
were $140 each through IH, local bearing house
special ordered them in for me @ $60 each.

Wat does "it seems pretty sloppy" mean. T/O bearings are usually a bit loose unless touching the fingers when being used. If it rattles when just coming into contact, the fingers may be a bit out of uniform adjustment. Continuous noise from the T/O bearing when the clutch is pushed in, or vibration in the pedal, is justification for replacement. If it has 1 to 1.25" of freeplay, it should be OK. Jim

I think that number 59879D is a greaseable bearing while number 365865R91 is designed to be used without being relubed.

Early in 350 production when IH added a grease fitting to the sleeve the bearings were changed.
Sleeve 360501R1 used bearings 360502R91 and 363291R91. When the sleeve was advanced to R2 bearing numbers were changed to 365865R91, 365866R91 and 59879D. 460 should have the R2 sleeve with a short pipe with grease fitting.
Don't know what bearings are like now but a dealer shows 59879D at 56.38 and a new number to replace 365865R91 close to 40 bucks. My napa store shows one bearing they use to replace all at around 60 bucks. Found replacements on line for mid twenties. If tractor is used often you may want to compare quality over price if it could mean another split to replace.
This site lists one around 22 bucks. Has a different IH number it replaces though.

Thanks everyone, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a huge material difference in between the 2 part numbers. I found them through this website and it wasn't too expensive.
