question bout a 350 diesel

The 350D used a Continental diesel engine (not an IH engine). And yes,the 450/650 were the last gas start diesels

Yup - the 350D has a Continental direct start diesel.

The Farmall 450D and International 450/650 were the last IHC tractors to use "start on gas" diesels.

The reason the 350 has a diesel is because there was a drive to provide an H size tractor with a diesel. It was a stop gap method. economical to operate, expensive to fix, not great starters. Jim

Didn't the IH dozers continue on with the gas start diesels for a few years? I swear I remember seeing a ~1960 TD-something at an auction that was a gas start diesel.

Had one on a SD ranch I worked on in 1964. Ran forever on a tank of diesel, but pretty gutless. I don't recall having a problem starting it, but it had very few hours on it at the time. I ran it mainly as a loader tractor picking up 8 bales at a time dropped by a Farmhand accumulator, loading them on a big bale trailer, then unloading the trailer and stacking in a big stack. Had 400 acres of irrigated alfalfa, so I ran it A LOT.
