Hydro 70 hydraulics continued

A few weeks ago I purchased a Hydro 70 with a
non-functioning 3 point hitch. So far I've
removed the plate under the seat, noted no
significant flow with the tractor running,
after I start the tractor I get a very slight
increase in oil level. The linkage all appears
to be hooked up and moving the valve as it
should. I have reconnected the remote valve for
the loader (the tractor has no remotes, the
valve for the loader is hooked in with two
hoses which are connected to the right of the
seat just by where the draft and position
controls are) and when I operate (dead head) a
loader function I can hear the relief valve
open but I still have no hitch. I haven't yet
removed the line from the hitch pump or changed
the oil and filters (I have the oil and filters
but was hoping to replace the pump if necessary
before installing them). I'm guessing at this
point that if it is the oil and filter the
pump's toast anyway? The steering is fine and
the hydro seems to work well. Anything else I
can/should check (I'm waiting on a manual)
before pulling the pump? Thanks, Sam
