Farmall 230 hydraulic pump

I'm working with a farmall 230 hydraulic pump, part # 384506R94 on this site. This is an original pump not a new one.

This pump is mounted to the crank of the F134 engine in my CJ3b Jeep. I bought it used off a guy condition unknown.

When I first got it all together, it leaked like crazy, but did put out a bit of pressure to lift my three point hitch.

I replaced the shaft seal and put it back together, now it does not pump at all. Not sure why.

I did thane the main shaft/gear out and polish it with emery cloth. Is it indexed some how?

Could the over pressure/dump valve be stuck open?

You take the cam gear off, mount the pump into an aluminum saddle, then in place of the gear there is a drive flange that goes on. Then it has a rubber coupler to the crank pulley. Finally there is a custom manifold for this application. It's the way it was set up if you had a three point hitch back in the day.

Most of those pumps can be assembled with one part backwards. They will not pump until you turn the part back around.

maybe something on here that will help

You put the pump back together wrong or forgot a part.

Memory's failing me now as to which part might've gotten installed backwards. There aren't too many to choose from.

The only things I took out were the main shaft/gear and the brass
piece over it and the brass piece over the bottom gear. Each one of
those had a sort of tension washer on them.
The only thing I question is if the main shaft/gear has to be indexed
somehow with the other gear. When I put the main shaft onto my
drill press to polish it, it looked like it had a tough of wobble to it.
