How many 1026 gold demo's where made?

D17puller, Twostepn2001 and I have been quizing any and all guys we can find! But we are more concerned about LP tractors, Most especially 656/756LP row-crops. There is little to no written records! There is a fellow YTer here that worked on the line, After, the Gold Demos, There were 4 of so lines of production and some were done Gold Demo and the rest were all the usual Red & White. I think! the line Manager pulled tractors off the line to fill the basic, Initial offering of Demos that each dealer needed for their service area! (Sorta like when Chevy brings out a new special Corvette, Every dealer Gets 1)
the following tractors were to what was popular, and selling well in their Customer base!
I still maintain it is up to Dealer allocations and what was selling at a particular Dealership! and what the Line-manager pulled of the line and sent to be gold Demoed!
What was the Criteria, thought process, and who made the decision on a particular tractor being Demo Painted and How that happened. Were they painted on the regular paint line Or were the tractors completed to a point, painted, then pulled from the line and sent to a Boutique Paint Shop ON Premise and some parts repainted Gold, or completed There with Fenders, Hood, and the like. Waaay to many ????s and far too few answers.

John I believe a few of the first ones for the fall farm shows were painted at local body shops. There was a 544 at the Duquion Red Power show that was painted gold over red paint. I believe this was one that was pulled of the line and sent to a body shop to be painted. IH painted the regular gold demos at the factory. Remember IH would custom paint a tractor for a small fee. The dealers got to choose what tractors they received as gold demos. down here in the south there were 3 656 diesel utility row-crop hydro diesels within 50 miles of me. Our dealer got a 826 hydro demo, dealer 35 mile away got a 656 Farmall demo and a 826 hydro, dealer 50 miles west got a 826 hydro, 1026 hydro, and a 1456 all demos,.
