I am looking to replace the carb on my 53 cub. Is there any imput on using a zeinith as opposed to a orignal ih replacement. I have not had good luck rebuilding carbs in the past so for me. Its better to put the money for the kit in a replacement carb and save the hassel. I know for many here that rebuilding a carb is second nature not so for me.

I have no personal experience, but there is a Zenith available as a replacement for the original Cub carburetor. The Zenith does require an adapter for the air intake tube to fit properly.

As I understnd it, the original Cub carburetor is prone to warping? and can be a bit difficult to remedy.

The Zenith carbs work good, but as was mentioned, the air inlet is bigger, but that is easily remedied, by either a new hose for the air inlet, or one hose to fit the carb inlet, one to fit the original pipe and slipped inside the one on the carb. You may also need a new choke lever depending on the condition of the original. There are a couple guys on the farmallcub.com site that rebuild and straighten the originals much cheaper than buying replacements.

Before you do anything go to the Farmall Cub Forum. There is information there about a man named Cecil Diamond. He can rebuild your carb and if the top of it is warped he will straighten it. You will get a carb back that is just like new. He did one for me and it works excellent.
