What is the difference, turbo? If I used a 1086 would my fuel consumption be a lot more than a 986 where all the horses aren't needed? I noticed that 1086s are listed for less money generally than a 986, just wondering. Thanks

No turbo, different cylinder head, smaller injection pump, less piston coolers, narrower bull gears, less brake discs, lighter hitch lift links, smaller clutch. There are some other minor bearing differences in the drive train.

1086s were very easy to turn up and a lot of people tried to use them like a 1486 or even a 1586. After years of use like that there isn't a lot left to them 30+ years later.
