Where do you get parts? I have a '50 MD with a bad/stuck motor. I cant seem to find any s&p sets.Acctually,Ithink I could get by with one (4"bore) sleeve.

Delta,

Parts wise I have been lucky I bought out a salvage yard bout 15 years ago anything gas start diesel I bought. I just scrapped a lot of small stuff few engine blocks and one had 3 good 4" sleeves I just didn't bother trying to pull I wish I knew someone needed them. As for new sleeves and pistons I bought a 4" nos set on a auction for $70 when no one was paying attention at a auction few years ago You can easily get new sleeves & pistons for them but a complete set can cost up to $1500. Watch ebay as well there was a good used set that the guy wanted $350 for a complete set they looked really nice and easily would of worked in any MD that someone is just going use off and on. All of ours are in dang good shape and I have been lucky I will get picures of all of them and post here in the spring
feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions

I'm a little jealous. M diesels weren't that plentiful here. I'm not sure whether it was due to the dealer or the fact that folks needed large tillage tractors and didn't pay extra for diesel when they weren't using them as their main tillage tractor. I don't know that I have ever seen one on CL. I've never seen one in person (other than shows).

Notjustair,

Thanks for the email. There was quite a few in my area. I am on 34 and have owned at least 20 md's so far I have around 10 now. They are a awesome machine and fun to use and run I love them you can still buy them reasonable in my area when one comes up should I be on the lookout for you?

You can have those MD's...I know guys that had them in their working days and at least 2/3rds of them had to put up with cracked heads sooner or later. And, I've driven a few of them and they steer harder than my John Deere G's do. (I'm not gonna admit that the second one of those I bought had a cracked head too). I once had a gas Super M though and liked that old girl pretty well. It steered fairly easy...until you mounted the 4 row cultivator....

I ve been considering a 'repower' I have a 305 GMC V6 to put in. I kind of hate to .But "money"(or lack of) is a big issue. But it would be a fun project. Steve

Steve,

Here is what I would recommend I would part the Md you have out sell pieces on ebay or sell complete You can buy a real good one between 2000-3000 easily in my area not worth the repower
hassle again any ? contact me

Nice looking! Has the AB pump, no?

They never show up around here, although I have a 400D. Where are you that they are so thick?

Centex,

I am in Minnesota, Should I be on the lookout for a MD for you? A lot of them were in Canada as well I chase them pretty hard any ? please ask.

An MD just posted on St. Cloud craigslist for $1500. I have no connection to it, but just read your post then was checking craigslist and found it.

Thanks, I appreciate the offer but in the near term can't afford to have one transported!

Grandpa had one "back in the day" and it got traded in on a 560 that is still in the family.

I like my 400D and an MD would certainly be nice. I know who to call on if something changes....

M Nut,

Yes it's been for sale for long time not sure what's up with it I have a Mint 1950 model and the one on Cl is a 1950 Model so I don't really need two of them lol

That's a good looking rig, I've never seen one of them working in northern Il. but there must of been a million Ms, we had two. Have seen a few at the threshing shows around though.

Delta I can get you a set of the original 37/8 bore for that MD We pulled them about 30 years ago when it had bearing go bad. We put in the 4" ones then. This would have Sleeves and Pistons. Possibly even Wrist pins. Would have to check on that.
