WR-9 on Steel

Hi all. I have an opportunity to buy a Farmall WR-9. It has steel
wheels on the rear. The lugs look like they have paddles
welded on to them to help in the rice fields. The tractor has
been sitting outside for years and is in pretty rough shape. I'm
sure the motor is stuck and a few parts are missing. This is
located in East Texas and they guy wants $1,000. What are
your opinions? I'm not sure I should tackle such a project but I
think it's kinda neat. Serial number CB67970 and does say
WR-9. Now let's see what y'all think.

If you like it and want it and can afford it, buy it. It probably can't be driven anywhere without bands put on the paddles. That might even take extra effort depending on how far apart the lug/paddles are. 1000 seems tall under scrap price (transporting it costs) Jim

A little off topic, but last fall I was to a tractor show where one fellow had a W9 with steel wheels. He had a board taped to the grill with an enlarged reproduction of a 1950 W9 sales ad.
It said the steel wheels were standard in 1950 on the W9, with rubber tires being an option.
It suprised me that the steel wheels would be standard equipment as late as 1950.

i dont think steel was standard in 1950. then you would be seeing cutoffs on them and that is very very rare on a w9, same with the w6. during the war years they did have steel but to even find one is rare.
but maybe they were ordered as rubber option.??

The tractor is located in Jewett Tx and is listed in the Waco Craigslist. I don't think I should take on something like that right now. I hope somebody can get it restored. You don't see too many with steel wheels.

I didn't see it. Sold?

This is the only Texas jewel I saw.

Thanks, I started looking harder after I saw that post. I never looked in wanted, just farm & garden.

I hope he is Hispanic because that is iffy English.
