1026 Gold demonstrator information?

Hello guys, Is there any way to indicate a golden demonstrator tractor other than a black steering column or golden under the hood and when restoring one is it wise not to paint the black dash/cast or under the hood to prove it is original? As far as I can tell there is nothing different in the serial numbers. Also how many golden 1026 tractors were made and how many total 1026 tractors? Just checking also I am wondering what the proper decals should be for the tractor? It is a 1026 gold demo hydro tractor and it needs some help I am trying to make it as correct as possible? Where might one find the decals? Also It is missing the grab handles any ideas there? Also any photos would be great!! Thanks guys!

Take plenty of before pictures. If it has fenders check were the fender mounts to the uprights for gold paint. Post or email me your serial number. I've researched the gold demos a lot and have been able to figure out a range of the demos serial numbers.

Ken Updike @ Johnson tractor has the demonstrator decals. The Hydro console should be gold and the cast part of the hi-lo range shifter should be gold also. You will hear a lot of paint codes being thrown around but the correct code is 1970 IH truck gold metallic 4357. Ken Updike and I both agree on this color. If you google gold demonstrators, the picture of the 656 utility row crop was mine and painted the correct shade of gold. I compared it with a 544 Farmall that had never been repainted. I took the side panel off and where it hadn't been in the sun it was a perfect match. Eason

Thank you for the information. I was looking at photos and noticed some that have the hydro area red and some gold. Also the hi low cast area both ways. On mine the under side of the hood and fenders are all gold and the cast around the console is all black. I am guessing when repainting this we do not want to paint under the hoods or the black console? It is a later 1970 model sn#9199. Thank you for the help. WHo all has one and please share some photos! Thank you!!

Mine is 9021. Mine was equipped from the factory with 16.9 x 38 rears and 7.50 x 16 fronts, no tilt steering wheel, and regular seat.

I would leave an area on the underside of the hood or side panel "untouched" to prove that this is a true gold demo not a fake. This would serve as the tractor "fingerprint of authenticity". The cast dash tower MUST BE black painted too!

The correct color of gold paint is the one that Eason lists. IH did not have a special gold made up for the demos that some claim to have happened. They "re-cycled" the gold paint used by the Truck division.

I do carry the correct DEMONSTRATOR decal that is made from an original. Ring me toll free 855-934-2388 if you may need a set of them or any other IH parts.
