farmall 400 hydraulic question

What would cause the seals to go out of the hydraulic pump?It's a 400 gas.

Not sure.Just bought it and the guy said they knocked the seals out a couple of times with the original hydraulic setup.Then they changed to some aftermarket setup with different valve and levers

Dead Headed hydraulics from a stuck relief will do it. Jim

I'd like to put original valve and handles back on.Anything to look for before I'd do that ?

Make sure the pilot valve for the system is clean and the little screen is clean. There is a chance the pilot valve might need to be vary carefully drilled to .040" on the orifice. (regulator block) Jim

Also if the internal pump parts are worn to much the seals will get a to high pressure and can't seal for that.

If the hydraulic system has had major issues in the past and overheated the fluid, that would cause it as well.
