what direction do you remove pto shaft from assembly,,towards
front or towards rear..messicks said there was a clip behind
seal...is that true... dont show one on diagram, just shows two
bearings and spacer...update on last post figured out the problem
was bent pto.......thanks for any help....dewy

Fuzzy memory here, but as I recall it comes out to the rear (toward the outside of housing). Gear must come off the shaft first. Do not try to press shaft out through the gear as there is a woodruff key that will not clear. The key has to be removed from shaft before you can get the shaft out.

thanks haas.. have already removed pinion gear..will the bearing s stay in place...thanks dewy

Are you going to remove the seal? I think the seal will keep the outside bearing from coming out. The inside bearing will stay in place since it has to come out to the inside. Depending on where your shaft is bent you may have troubles getting it out. If bent on the outside you should be ok. While you have it apart, might as well replace the seal. If the bearings do come out, simple matter to put them back.
