when using 3jaw puller.would you leave bolt head ,no washer, in so puller shaft doesnt go into hole for bolt .or should i use something else.....thanks dewy

Yes; done that many times. Screw the bolt in so it bottoms on the shaft.

Also a shallow centering hole created in the bolt head can be helpful keeping the puller centered. Jim

I learned to use a small hex nut underneath the point of the puller shaft. Portable centering hole.

f you put a drop of oil on the point of the puller and keep the back side of the nut dry, it pretty well insures that the nut won't rotate. That helps keep it centered.
