656- Hyd Issues

Im going to be working on my 656 this week. I use it to pull out
wheel rake and small square baler. The hyd are really slow. I
mean if it isnt at full throttle or nearly it lifts the rake wheels so
slowly you cant see them move. Ive changed the fluid and filter
and it is still slow. it is weak too. Say i try to pick up my 15'
cultipacker, it will only budge it if i run the throttle up. Shouldnt
it have enough capacity to do that at idle or close to? The power
steering is fine on it. Just wondering how it all works and if there
could be a valve sticking somewhere.
Thanks
Zach

Sounds like you already changed filter and fluid. I would take relief valve out and try a different one. Quick and easy. It is in back of aux valve stack. Plug with 1 1/8 inch hex head. If you can blow through the screened end of valve the least little bit it is problem.

I have a question about your 656. When you have an implement hooked to it, turned the steering wheel all the way to the right and hold it tight, the relief valve for steering should squeel. Then move the hydraulic lever to raise the implement. If you have lots more hyd power and the implement raises much faster, let me know and I will tell you what needs fixing. BTDT Charlie U

Get the service book and trouble shooting book, it tells you where to check the PSI and how check the different parts without throwing money at it. Testing and Trouble Shooting Hyd Drive 544 and 656 #GSS-1405. And Hyd 544 and 656 #GSS-1397
