Draining and refilling belly pump oil on Farmall H

Howdy,
I am wondering how You drain the oil for the lift-all
To change it on a 1950 Farmall H?
Thanks for your help:)

There is a pipe plug in the bottom of the casting (sticking down under the tractor) remove it and the oil drains. Put in 6 quarts of Hytran, or 20wt non detergent (if you are staying original and do not mix your fluid with other tractors with Hytran. Jim

The sticking down casting is rearward of the engine, and has a keyhole shaped passage in each side. The plug is in the bottom of that casting. Jim

Is there a trick into getting the goofy factory dipstick out? My Dad's H was missing it. Got a used 1, installed. Now can get it out

When I took the breather/filler cap off, there was no way to check the oil level. Did some reading & found out there is suppose to be a dipstick. Called Bates Corp, they have a use 1 in stock. So I ordered it, it was a 3 piece dipstick that is linked together. I drained the oil, put in 6 quarts of 30W. Put the dipstick in, now it wont come out. Its caught on something down below.

The dip stick is a #9 wire with a mark to indicate full (at about 8 inches down the rod) The top of the rod has two smashed places on it that hold a washer in place. This washer is just big enough to be held under the fill/vent cap. It is often either lost to the weeds, or the smashed point on the top of the rod wears through the washer and the rod falls into the reservoir. Then the washer is discarded. If you have a 3 piece stick I have never seen one. Jim

Here is picture of the drain for the person that was asking.

Here is the cap, then next shows the top of the dipstick & how far it now comes out. The dipstick is caught on something down below.

I was thinking about asking about the dipstick, then I saw this post about belly pump a H. I have been around my late Grandfather's SW6 for awhile now. Farmed with it, repaired it, etc. Farmall type tractors are really new to me, less than 2 years. Tonite the dipstick was either going to break or come out. Put some vise grips on it, pulled, wiggle, swore at it. It came out after its been in there for couple months now. Here is couple pictures of it. Got it out couple hours ago, its not going back in ever.

Like John M said, that dipstick is to long. Its used when more piping is used on top for a remote control valve.

Since Bates sold me the wrong dipstick, does anybody have a picture of what the correct dipstick looks like? Or a length so I can make my own. Thanks.

My post below gives the info. The bst is to put in 6 quarts and mark the stick. If you use a one way cylinder (or 2 on a loader) only check the oil level when the loader is down all the way, or oil will come out of the cap from too much. Jim

Full is 11-3/8 inches below the top of the pipe nipple. stick was 2 inches longer below the full mark. Stick was one rod with the top washer like the stick you had.
Think you can still get one from a dealer, part 15158EX. Can't believe over 70 bucks though.
