correct tire size for 16 single front wheel M.

Could someone tell me the tire size for a 16" single front wheel M? I was told it is 16x6.5" but was wondering if a 16x5.5" would work? Thanks

I think that 5.50 x 16 is going to be pretty small. I have some that are using a 6.50 truck tire and that is ok but I think that the 7.50 x 16 tri rib tire on my SMTA looks better, steers a little better than the 6.50 did. Also harder to find 5.50 tires that are rated as six or eight ply so that they will hold up over time. Good luck, Mike

I think a 5.50 would be too narrow. The lower bolster is far more spacious than even a 6.50 width. I would put a wide tire on it if possible for some flotation. They turn very hard when the tire sinks into soft ground unless they are rolling ahead some. See if a 7.50 will fit in the bolster. Jim

I grew up with single front M's,400's .We always used a 750-16 .
I have a SMTA & 400 restored with single fronts and have 750-16's on both anything smaller does not look right much less be right. In the day we used cultivators and other front mounts 750's did the job.

Should fit but not enough load capacity. What pullers would do to lighten the front end or make front end just off ground in pull to put entire tractor weight on rear wheels. Like they do by putting car throw away spares on front of pullers. Look like Sh!! Dual 5.5 do not have enough carring capacity for an H tractor let alone the extra weight of a M.

My SM has a 7.50x16 single front , my single front H has 6.50x16 . Might be farmer and not factory but they look ok to me.

If you aer 'farming' with it or showing it you will want a 7.50/16. If you are makeing a 'puller' then a 5.50/ 16 will suffice. If a puller, make sure you have the pressed steel wheel. The solid cast is HEAVY.
