Brakes on a 300

Haven't done much with tractor brakes, ever, so here's a question: how hard is it to R&R brakes on a 300 Farmall? Just take the covers off, pull the old ones off and the new one's on? Getting a manual sent to me from an old friend who was and IH mechanic in Indiana, so that will probably answer all my questions. Basically I want to know how difficult a job it really is. Thanks guys,

Mac

It is not hard to take them off and put them on. Getting them to work well can involve having to machine a bit off the lip of the case to get them back to spec and account for wear, but I have not had to do that yet.

Clearance with the working parts in the housing (laying flat) is .030 to .050" clearance to the mount surface. If you replace the friction disks, measure with the new discs. Jim
