Some people like the new improved cushion drive to replace the original style bendix spring drive.
I need a part # for new style drive and how do you attach it to armature shaft.?
What did the new drive originally work on or is it made only to retro fit the older bendix spring drive.
Thank you!

When you use the new style drive to replace the older style you no longer use the two washers with the larger ID. Use one thrust washer on each end of the armature. The other two fit over the armature shaft and served as a stop for the original drive.

Drive from this site is # 565549 but no picture.
Another site has A565549 with picture and it is old style with Bendix spring. I assume this site sells the old style. Thanks

Thank you very much for that information. I know exactly what you are talking about re washers.
Pretty soon I am going to make one old style out of 3 broken ones.

Thanks for #. Seems the new and improved is an Ag part only made especially to replace the old style Bendix drive. IHS132 and CP4592 would be 2 of the #s. Thanks again.

Or, you run down to your friendly neighborhood CaseIH dealer and tell them you need a replacement Bendix end for your 350's starter. They will automatically sell you the new style clutch drive. Then you can put a worried look on your face and say in a quiet squeaky voice, "But, but... It's not the same!" They will explain to you it's a new design that works better than the old one.

Online IHC parts still shows the old style , wonder why that is?
I made one out drive of three. Will see what happens. Thank you for the sound advise.

Just got done fixing my 300U starter about two months ago. Last time I fixed it was about 1980. I found the very last starter generator shop in South jersey area near me. Got the whole assembly for $35.00. When you pull it apart also change the brushes! Last you want to shim the armature correctly. I set mine up so there is a very thin washer at the brush end and the brushes make good full contact . There should only be a little clicky clicky movement front to rear. See what anyone else says.

Do you know what the clickity click does?
Date of rebuild on my starter is 1983 so it has been awhile. Thanks
