OT: Father Passed Away 11/20/14

Good afternoon everyone,

I know I don't have much to contribute to the forums lately (with a busy life in school, working full time, & planning a wedding), I muster enough energy to read occasionally but have very little tractor activity to speak of - The '41 Case SC and the '41 Unstyled A are sitting in the garage waiting for spring or spare time, but I have to go a different direction in my talks today...

I am sorry to inform everyone (even though nobody on the forum knew my father), but he passed away suddenly on Thursday from a massive heart attack at the age of 55. His health has seen some sticky spots the last few years, but I believe now he is at peace. I wanted to post on here, simply because he supported my passion for tractors, and I know all of you would share a little bit of grief to have lost a fellow enthusiast. The photo included is of my dad, and my grandfather (deceased in 1993) working on grandpa's 1940 IH M in the summer of 1988. I appreciate everyone's condolences, and am thinking that the '41 Unstyled A JD will be finished up in his memory - he never did get to see the tractor before he passed.

It's hard to lose a parent. My dad, father in law and a nephew died in 1970. My nephew was killed in Viet Nam when he was 22. His name is in the book called Ripcord. Sgt Stan Diehl. He's buried at Arlington. His dad was retired from the Air Force and died in Hawaii and his mom
lives in Florida. She will be 87 in Dec. She was a track star in high school. Hal

Thanks for sharing the photo and the bit of background. Take the stories and shared experiences with you as you experience life. it keeps their spirit alive. Jim

Very sorry for your loss. I lost my mom Nov 20 2003 to a heart attack and it was a huge shock to us all. My dad was never the same with out her, and passed a few years later. I kidd my 19 year old daughter I will be in that big tractor shed in the sky someday. Very hard to lose someone around the holiday. God Bless.

Steve

Sorry for your loss. Very hard to lose your dad... and especially one so young!

(Was hard when my dad passed away last winter... but he was in his 80's and enjoyed a long and wonderful life.)

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers during this time. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoy the family and memories around you. It is great to see such a network of support, especially from a bunch of oily guys/gals like us. :) I hope you all have a great and safe weekend.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2011 and Dad in April of this year. They left me with many wonderful memories. My Dad left me a hobby I hope to enjoy for many years.I know he's there looking over my shoulder when I'm working on the old tractors.
