Greasy Super-C brakes

I have a Super-C with transmission lube in the
disc brake housing to the point that this brake
does not work. The I&T manual doesn't cover
replacing this seal. Does the Operator platform
have to come off to replace the seal? Thanks for
any advice.

I had that happen this spring. My C had "made water" to a point that it was pushing oil out into the brake unit on both sides. I drained a gallon and 1/2 of water out of it, cleaned the mess off the brake parts, put it back together, and it works like a new one. I did have to replace one of the little springs on an actuator and thought the price was robbery, (9 stinking bucks #!@$#!). gm

My M that sits outside on the loader, had so much water in it, couldnt move it, when it was freezing temp's! After i covered the platform capscrew recess's , the grease look like new .

WE had an H with that problem and put copper washers under the bolt heads, problem solved. Someone told me they were that way from the factory.

Remove brake housing, locate pry indentations on the seal retainer. It comes off with some reluctance. Seal and o-ring need replacing. Part # for seal is 380922R91. Need 2
Part # for o-ring is 87421144. Need 2
Part # for brake disc is 368191R91. Need 4

No the trans cover doesn't have to come off.

All can be disassembled easily from each side of the tractor. Bull pinion retainer holds the seal that is leaking. I use 3 cold chisels evenly spaced around the retainer. Gently and evenly tap the chisels in till it comes out. You can break the retainer plate if you get too heavy handed.

Search the archives on Super C and Super H brakes. There's a lot of information that's not in the IT manual.

As Gary said do be sure to verify that the transmission is not filled with water. These old units were not designed to keep water out of the transmission, just to minimize it. Running would evaporate the water out after the rain had passed. Now we seldom run them enough to heat up the transmission so you either have to keep it sheltered or drain the water regularly.

Thanks for the help, It sounds like I should check for water in the transmission. This tractor sat out for a couple years at one point in time.
