whats to the correct torque number for a farmall 300 engine head. and also what can you spray on head gaskets so they don't leak around the edges?

Do you have a Cat Dealer close bye, or know a shop foreman at a cat dealer, My neighbor, Nick, is a cat qualified mechanic he has a chart in one of his books, it show what the head of the bolt looks like, what the threads are, the size etc, and that's what he use's for torque, settings, on head bolts, for a strange motor. He went to Wyoming Tech, that's a two year course, they teach in one year, He missed one question one one test the entire year. As far what he puts on the head gasket ,i would have to ask him!

Wait for the torque spec answer from someone who knows. The general specifications for torque do not apply to head bolts unless there is absolutely no information to go by.
I use Copper coat spray on sealant. A medium even coat on both sides allowed to dry. Use a straight edge to assure the flatness of the mating surfaces .005 from end to end is OK, .001" in any 8 inch length is OK.
The cylinder sleeve rims may stick up slightly .002 to .003", be sure to not count those into the flatness. Jim

Well i did look in my IT, IH-10 book, 300-350, and 400-450. both the C169 and C175 engine it says 70 FT.-LBS. Hope this help's.

Farmall4568 and Janicholson, Sorry that answer was not even applicable, i forgot u don't even have a head of a bolt to compare it too.
