PTO seal replacement Super H

I got my old seal out, driving it out with a round piece of oak almost the diameter of the housing. I drove it out from the outside in. I have the new seal, considerably thinner, which I understand is ok. My question is, when reinstalling the new seal, should I put it in from the outside in, or from the inside out? Also, do I need to worry about it getting cock-eyed in the housing, or should it go pretty much straight in? thanks, Chuck

ok thanks. Should I go from the inside of the housing and push it all the way out to the rear back edge of the housing?

I'd but it in from the outside. And yes, worry about getting it cockeyed. It has to go in straight or you will ruin it and it will leak. I have pretty good luck tapping them in with a light hammer. I have a little 12 or 14 oz hammer I use for stuff like that.

I put a new one in mine and it leaked --drove a second one in from the outside right behind the the other( with some white grease in between)and it stayed dry -- good luck--

Grease or oil. I sometimes put grease on a shaft to make the seal slide easier, also to avoid damage to the seal.
