2424 Oil Filter - Which Way ?

So I was not paying attention when I pulled the old filter off the housing today. Which end of the element filter goes in the housing? Long skinny end or short fat end?

Only had the tractor 30 years and still can't remember.

Letter series: big end down and make sure to remove all the old square cut o-ring gasket b/4 installing new one.
Old dental tool works well for groove cleaning.

Or just take a 8 penny nail, smash the end with a hammer, and sharpen it on the grinder, to make a oil filer o ring remover tool, to meet your needs..

well, do you think if you put the small end down in a big opening do you think it would be correct? so obvious to see which end goes down.

Got the o ring out no problem. Thanks for confirming the big end goes down. The more I thought about it that seemed right.
