I am working on rebuilding the engine for my 1935 F30. Here is a picture of the stripped down chassis.

The engine had thrown a rod and broke the block. I found a replacement 1935 block and have started assembling the engine. So far I have gotten the crankshaft installed with new bearings. Installed the lifters and cam and then attached the front cover. The head is at the machine shop getting surfaced and the valve seats ground and I took the sleeves there also to have them power honed. I have an extra engine that I was using for parts, but it was in pretty bad shape and did not yield what I needed so I will have to get another F30 parts tractor. I know a guy that has a few F30s, F20s, Regulars etc... sitting in the back pasture for parts and he said he would sell me a parts F30, so I will have to bring that home soon so I will have the parts I need for the '35 F30.

Nice project Kirk, you're fortunate to have a supply of parts on hand. I wish there were more tractors like that around here. I have a feeling when I ever start on my Regular I'm going to need a lot more than the two I already have in order to build just one. Keep us posted on your progress...

I found a picture of the F30 in my files from when I brought it home, I see it has been over 4 years already...... time sure flies...

I have no narrow rearends, period. I don't know how many narrow tread F30s were made, but they are scarce as hen's teeth around here.

Does the back one on your trailer have a "Pony Motor" hooked to the belt pulley to start it?

So DC, Do you have any pictures of your upcoming regular project? Year?

By the way my name is Rob "Reggie", I have a number of old regulars some complete and some parts tractors. It all started for me in 1983, When we got my grandpa's 31 out of the shed. He had parked it there and put it up on blocks in 1970 before dying in march of 1971.

OK "Reggie", When you gonna get that NT regular runnin?????

Kirk, good on you. Interesting about the NT F30's in your area. F30's themselves are not common here in western PA, but at the last couple of shows, I actually saw 3 NT's, mine being one of them. Would be really cool if someone at the archives ever found shipping records at least to the deals to see what areas they went to. Not saying that will ever happen, but that would be interesting.

I would think out west, the need for the NT would be lower than in the south and the east, but that is just theory on my part.

I still have not got the parts F30 hauled home so I don't yet have the parts needed to finish putting the engine together, however I did get the flywheel installed a couple of days ago. Next thing is to get some tires mounted on the rear wheels. Have to take one to use on the parts tractor so I can winch it on the trailer when I go to get it.

The engine is pretty much done now! Just need to finish installing the clutch and then the engine can be set back in the chassis.

Looks good. You are making more progress than I am on the F20. The guy at the machine shop has been piddling around on the head for two months now but he is finally ordering parts so he's gaining ground. I haven't been pushing him because I probably wouldn't have time to put it together at the moment anyway.

Kirk, looking good. Make sure you get a video of the first time you fired her up...........and I mean the first time! Will be cool to see/hear her come to life.

Ok, Tom, I promise!! I will film my VERY FIRST attempt to start it and post it here for all to see 8) Hopefully it won't be too much longer, I have the radiator disassembled for cleaning, just need to finish that and rebuild a mag and then it will be ready for a test fire!

(quoted from post at 11:23:08 02/12/16) Hey Kirk please change the color of the front wheels, doesn't look right.

I know it looks a little odd, but they were blue when I bought them......

WELL.... I did film my first attempt to start it last week, but I was unsuccessful in getting it started by hand. That freshly rebuilt engine turned over fairly hard. Today I belted the F30 up to my Regular and got it started for the first time that way, but wouldn't you know it, I forgot to take a video of it.....

I did not run it long as oil started leaking from around the base of the oil filter cover, turns out I forgot to put a new O-ring in there..... :?

OMG Kirk, no video! LOL. I should say "LOSER", but I am too darn happy you got the old girl fired up! Good for you. We still need a video of the first successful hand crank, how's that!

Here are a couple of pictures of the tractor. I got a good video of myself starting it and driving it around, but I have not made it to the library yet to upload it....
