B414 gas tach

I have a B414 gasser I am planning on fixing up. It does not have a tach an never had one. I want to put one on it. Also does it take a clockwise or counter clockwise rotation tach Where does the tach hook up on these? I have a 364 diesel and the tach goes in where the distributor would on a gas engine. Any suggestions

Why not just use an electronic tach that runs off the distributor? Adding a tach to a gas engine is MUCH easier then to a diesel. Might as well take advantage of that. You can buy a small 2" analog tach for $20-$25 and have it hooked up in 10 minutes.

I was considering that if it is too difficult to put a mechanical tach on. I have several mechanical tachs on hand.

The mechanical tach. drive on our 3444 TLB gas, I imagine was the same set up as your tractor. It was a very special plastic gear which ran off the side of the British Delco distributor shaft. I was able to borrow some parts from a neighbors 354(I think) tractor, because his had acted up also, and he gave up on it.
This was years ago and parts weren't available then.
