I never ran into that problem and I guess I learned something here today. We did have problems with the early 666 tractors tellite's. They would not indicate properly and glow slightly even when regulated voltage was ok. IH said put in larger bulb. That took care of that problem but guess what. On the diesels, if you left the key on after shutting down tractor, the heat from that larger bulb melted the plastic in the instrument cluster. So, next solution, add a resistor in parallel with the indicator bulb. That cured it but also left you with a much dimmer tellite. I know auto's had similar problems years ago and went to larger bulb as well.
