Ground speeds marked different for sure and maybe the high RPM if I remember correct. Also for a complete original the markings depend on the type of PTO or If a T/A. If accurate it should show the same RPM the engine is turning on both through the RPM range.

Don't have any I want to part with.

Do a search on ebay. I bought one of the imported ones for $40.00 and so far it has worked great. Otherwise they are well over $200.00.

[b:5519095910]On Ebay 364372R91 all say it's for a utility where your parts manual says it's for a row crop. Is the 364372R91 the tach I need?

Bruce[/b:5519095910]

Attached are pictures of the tach on my 300 utility and my 350 row crop. The 300 utility is an original and the 350 (same as 300) is a NOS I bought a couple of years ago. The only difference I can see is that the row-crop has a higher speed decal because it uses 38 inch tires vs the 28 inch on the 300 utility. I still have the box from the NOS unit and can get you the original part number if you need it. Not sure if you are looking for the row-crop unit or the utility unit. Hope helps in showing the difference. I have the original one from my 350 but the hour meter doesn't work. The RPM meter still works though. Al

If the parts manual says that's what you need, that's what you need. There is no better reference.

That said, you can't trust ebay sellers to be accurate. They are just selling things to make money, and don't necessarily know a thing about what they're selling. Same goes for the manufacturers who make the reproduction tachometers.

Odds are pretty good the part number is copied, and accurate. It is very easy for someone who doesn't know IH tractors to think a 300 Farmall and a 300 Utility are the same, or not even know that there's a difference.

Even if the unit has the correct part number, the manufacturer is not bound by anything to make it an accurate reproduction. Regardless, you may get a "looks similar" item, not necessarily "exact."

You're taking a chance regardless of who you buy from unless you can find someone local who will let you inspect before you buy.

[b:641173273b]Thanks for the responses and the pictures. I have a row crop and according to the picture posted, everything on ebay is for a utility. I was pretty sure there had to be a difference in ground speed and now it's confirmed. I'll keep looking for an original tach.

Thanks

Need to do some checking. Numbers on the attachments in picture and numbers sellers are using is for the complete attachment, not necessarily the tach number. Do know IH changed numbers along the way and some tacks have it on the back or side. The attachment number for the IPTO and T/A would be correct.
In the first post I don't think I made it clear that if you just want RPM indicated and the PTO setting mark in the same place a 300U or row crop both with a IPTO will work. Ground speeds marked in the top half were different on originals, but with tire size changes they are not perfect anyway. Didn't know from your first post if you wanted original type or just one to work.
Will see if I can find just a tach number on one.

Sure confusing looking at the eba tachs. looks like some of the ones they are selling under number 363829R91 for a utility are going by the picture shown marked close to a row crop if not the same. Some under the same number are close to a utility.
Original tach number for a 300 farmall with IPTO or with IPTO and T/A or with transmission driven PTO and T/A was 364374R91, do have one I removed that was bad with 364274R92 on it. So some little change was made, maybe inside. 363829R1 was for a 300U with the same drives as above.

Bruce, If you find an original even a non-functional one I found that Metro Speedometer, in Independence, Missouri can work wonders on these old IHC tachometers/hour meters. I sent them the original on my Farmall 240 to them which was in just terrible shape including a hole rusted through the case which allowed water to enter which probably was the main culprit in it's demise. I got it back in about a week or so in like new appearance and completely functional in all aspects. I have no interest in this company and just a very satisfied customer who have sent them two different units and both have been non-issue items since their repair and restoration. I would be happy to share contact information if their services are needed in your endeavor, Hal.

Bruce,

Not sure if this will help, but the IH part number on the NOS tach I bought for my 350 row crop is 364-374-R92. That is the part number on the IH box it came in. Al
