Farmall Super M rear wheels dished in

I have a Farmall SM with the rear wheels dished in. I like the tractor in the narrowed stance for easier transporting on my trailer. The rear tires are less than perfect and will require a repair at some point. Problem is whoever did the dishing simply swapped the rear wheels left for right. That put the removable part of the rim clamps to the inside of the wheels, toward the tractor. Is there any way for me to remove the rims for tire repairs short of turning all of the drop center wheel-to-rim clamps around so that the rim can be taken off directly? Seems like a lot of work just to remove a rear rim. --Lee

With them loose, the rim will come off by manipulating the drop center to a position clearing one clamp. It is just geometry. be careful and use enough help or lifting device if they are full of fluid. Jim

Why would you remove the rim for tire repairs?

It is much easier to work with the tire mounted to the big heavy tractor, as it takes a lot of force to pry them off the rims sometimes.

Still, no reason you shouldn't be able to access the clamps from the inside, it just won't be quite as convenient. If the tractor has fenders you'll have to work one clamp at a time and rotate the wheel to access each clamp.

Remove ALL of the clamps. Both inside and outside. Put them back on the way YOU want them.
