I have been working on this m for a while know. The tractor starts fine but misses on cylinder two. Once the tractor warms up the miss goes away. Heres what I have done:

manifold gasket- seemed to help some was planed
new plugs d21
new wires
new coil
went through the carb new carb to manifold gasket
points cap and rotor
adj valves
compression shows number two as the weakest cylinder but the range is 87 to 101
tractor has great power can plow all day and the miss never comes back governor is responsive. I have tried changing the gap on number two plug nothing seems to fix the problem. open to any ideas?

I would say your problem is the low compression on that cylinder.Just needs to be warm before that cylinder will fire. Also,on the off chance, check valve lash clearance.

Excessive valve stem clearance on that cylinder intake can cause enough vacuum leak to be a source of that kind of misfire. with it running and cold enough to have the misfire, use a insulated pliers to pull the spark plug wire loose from the #2 plug. Not off, just loose enough to form a 1/4" gap. if the engine takes off running, that plug if fouled swap it for one in a different cylinder and it might come back from the dead. Jim

I did compression test my on Dad's 48 H, all 4 cylinders have 120 psi within a couple psi of each other. You shouldn't have more than 10 psi across the board.

Well delta i am in agreement with you not that i wanted that answer. Tractor has 65 lbs oil pressure warm and pretty nice paint

Does it still have flat tops in it?

Compression will be lower than with domed pistons.

You may just have a bad valve also.

Did you check compression with throttle open and all plugs out?
