Can I Straighten Touch Control Arm?

One of the rock lift shaft arms on the Farmall C touch control seems to be bent. Can I heat it and straighten it? It looks to be cast iron. Can you heat and bend cast iron?

Cast iron does not bend (unless Malleable Cast) show us a picture to assure we know which arm is bent. Some can be some can't Jim

Thanks, I bought the touch control unit and put it on the tractor. The right arm sits at an angle with the tractor and the left arm is parallel with the tractor. I had to bend the cultivator lift rods to get them hooked up to the right lift arm. I figure it's the arm that is bend and not the rock shaft?

Lemme guess: it's bent back toward the seat. Right?

After 2 years of carrying and using an A-22 sickle bar all summer, mine was more than a little noticeably bent from the bounce of carrying the bar. IIRC, IH made a special HD rockshaft arm specifically to address that problem back in the day. Not sure if they are still available. Wouldn't surprise me if they did, but it would be pricey.

I got a LH outer (with shield) salvage replacement put on the right side a couple weeks ago. I figure the welded on shield adds some strength. I also have it in mind to make up a different lift system for next year with another cylinder and a home made bypass block for the touch control.

I've seen several bent arms but never a bent shaft. I think the highway mowers on the Super A were particularly rough on them. I think the standard arms were beefed up some on the later model tractors, maybe the Fast-Hitch era Super C and 200.

I've seen arms that were twisted and a later/heavier arm is probably the only real fix. I've also seen arms where the ears start to bend away from each other. Replacing the 2 pins with bolts can help prevent (or even somewhat correct) that problem. I've seen this problem on a Super A with a grape hoe that uses the right arm for depth control.

I'll look for a heavier arm. I figure if I heat it to straighten it, it will soften the metal make it more prone to bending.
