live hydraulics and my H

I have a '43 H and just landed a front loader and live hydraulics which are a gear drive that goes with the distributor....my question is,
can i just note the position of my rotor, remove my old distributor and install the new one with the hydraulics in the same rotor position and be good to go?

As long as you don't rotate the engine any it should be fine. Will probably have to reset the timing as it will be off a little probably

I have been tracking this some on the forum. Be very sure there is a pressure relief valve in the system. H and M Farmalls before mid 1950 had weak cam drive gears that can strip (teeth, or hub) and make a very bad day. 350 parts are stout. Jim

(quoted from post at 00:02:47 11/10/14) How would i know if there is a pressure relief valve, where would it be?

Probably in the loader valve. Most likely it will be a hex plug, or a cartridge behind a plug. If you remove the loader from the tractor, there will probably not be a relief in the system so you would want to just let the pump circulate back to the reservoir.
