What model I H

We have a 48 H and 50 B. Would
like to find a Farmall that is low
profiled 30 - 50 hp., three point,
two way hydr., power steering.
Would like to use for post hole,
loader with hyd. bucket, small
3 point hoe, ect.
What early models fit this use?

Nothing before the mid 60s. 504 would be one of the first. The 444 is a nice handy small tractor. Do some shopping on Tractor House

460 utility is 48/51 hp and low, mine is handy and runs a loader very well and my brother in law has a 300 utility that he bushhogs with that’s very handy and low,38/42 hp

I believe cowmans reply stating the mid 60s or later refers to when a factory 3 point became available from IH. The 300 fore sure and pretty certain a 460 were not available with a factory 3 point. Even though they were nice handy tractors.

About the earliest International with a good 3-pt was the 424, then the 444; a little bigger the 504, then the 544, 574 etc.

I don't believe that any of the Farmall/International tractors mentioned below with factory 3-pt hitches will have down pressure for a 3-pt mounted post hole auger. Some aftermarket 3-pt hitches with 2-way plumbed hydraulics, will be able to provide down pressure for your post auger. I use a Farmall 300 with aftermarket 3-pt hitch to drill post holes quite successfully, even in hard ground.

I think the 444 is british? I would stay away from the british Ih tractors. They are very expensive to buy parts for.

I think you need to look for a 504.

To use any post hole digger I have ever seen, you will need to get new enough that the 3 point is not a "re-worked" Fast Hitch. Post hole diggers main beam attaches directly to the top link mount and on a modified Fast Hitch, that's too far back and they use a special short top link. Can't hook the main beam of a phd to them and work... I know, I have a 240U with the factory modified F-H to 3 point, and a phd will not work. Any tractor that uses a longer standard length top link for most implements should also be okay for the post hole digger.

Here's a 240 with factors 3 point with down pressure, no power steering though.http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/grd/4775496423.html
